Free BaZi calculator (Four Pillars of Destiny)
BaZi, or the Four Pillars, describes the year, month, day and hour of your birth with a pair of Chinese characters each: one Heavenly Stem and one Earthly Branch, eight characters in all. Enter your birth details and we set your Four Pillars by the solar terms, adjust for True Solar Time at your birthplace, then explain in plain English what your Day Master is, whether your chart leans strong or weak, and which two elements tend to support you.
Four Pillars
The Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch of your year, month, day and hour. Months change at the solar terms and the year changes at the Start of Spring (Li Chun).
Ten Gods
With your Day Master at the centre, see whether each other stem is a Peer, Output, Wealth, Officer or Resource star.
Day Master and strength
Your Day Master represents you. Your birth month and supporting elements show whether the chart leans strong, balanced or weak.
Favourable Elements and balance
The weighted share of each element, plus the two elements that tend to support you most.

Frequently asked questions
- Do I need to sign in or pay to calculate my BaZi chart?
- No. This calculator is completely free and needs no account. Everything is calculated in your browser, and your birth details are never uploaded or saved.
- Why do I need to choose a birth city?
- Chinese double-hours follow the sun's actual position. Cities sit at different longitudes, so the same clock time can be tens of minutes away from True Solar Time, which can change your Hour Pillar if you were born near the edge of a double-hour. Choose a city and we adjust for it automatically.
- I was born after 11 pm. Which day is my Day Pillar?
- We start the new day at 23:00 (Early Zi). A birth after 23:00 falls in the next day's Zi hour, so the Day Pillar uses the next day. Your result will point this out.
- How do I enter a lunar birthday or a leap month?
- Choose Lunar Calendar, then enter the lunar year, month and day. Only tick Leap Month if you were born in a leap month; we'll show which month is the leap month that year. If the box doesn't match the calendar, we calculate it as a normal month and let you know.
- Can a BaZi chart predict the future?
- No. BaZi is a traditional way of thinking about personality and life rhythms. It's best used for self-reflection, and it shouldn't be the basis for major life decisions.
Note: BaZi is part of traditional Chinese culture. This page is for cultural interest and self-reflection, not prediction, and it isn't medical, psychological, legal or financial advice.
